Here’s what he had to say.

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas was rushed to the southern border after border patrol agents reported a major wave of migrants that are heading for the border. Reports say that Mayorkas is meeting with state officials to help handle the current situation at the border.

Mayorkas stated that the border is in a bad situation and that he is doing everything that he can to help maintain control of the area. He added that he is working with American Red Cross and World Central Kitchen to help bring food and supplies for people.

“We certainly are experiencing a challenging situation, but we are surging resources and we have a multipronged approach to this,” Mayorkas stated.

“We have sent a very clear message early on in light of the fact that we are in the midst of a pandemic, that the border is not open and people should not take the perilous journey here,” he added. “We are returning people to other countries.”
