National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases head Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that some Americans may need to get a “booster shot” to help protect them against COVID-19. His remarks come after he stated that mask mandates are back under consideration.

He stated that people with underlying health issues may have to take the booster shot due to the dangerous COVID-19 variants spreading across the world.

“Those who are transplant patients, cancer chemotherapy, auto-immune diseases that are on immunosuppressant regimens, those are the kind of individuals that if there’s going to be a third booster, which might likely happen, would be among the vulnerable,” Fauci said.
